EMMA Forsyth

2025 Summer Intern

Emma graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in May of 2025 with degrees in Environmental Studies and Dance. After graduation, Emma joined DevryBV as a Summer Intern and transitioned to an analyst role in September 2025.

During her time at Gustavus, Emma was a key student employee at Gustavus’ Johnson Center for Environmental Innovation, where she contributed to various campus sustainability initiatives. Notably, Emma played a significant role in Gustavus’s 2025 AASHE STARS Report, which earned a “Gold” rating.

Other areas that Emma made valuable contributions to at Gustavus include environmental education and advocacy. Emma created a formal sustainability curriculum that was implemented into First Term Seminars in the fall of 2024, as well as organized and executed the annual Gustavus Climate Teach-In from 2022 to 2025, an educational event designed to bring together students and community members to engage in environmental advocacy.

Beyond campus, Emma served as a Student Board Member for the Southcentral Minnesota Clean Energy Council, a community-led group focused on diversifying Minnesota’s energy portfolio. 

Emma also gained hands-on experience through internships at TE Connectivity in 2023 and DUAL North America in 2024, where she worked in corporate sustainability, environment, and safety. 

Sustainability has led Emma down many paths, consistently reinforcing her belief that protecting the environment goes hand in hand with protecting communities and the people who live in them.

Outside of the office, Emma enjoys running, traveling, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and sustainable fashion.

2025 Summer Intern

James is a rising junior at the University of Southern California, majoring in Economics with a minor in AI Applications.

With a love for nature and the outdoors, he developed a strong interest in sustainability, particularly in advancing renewable energy solutions. At USC, James is actively involved in the Marshall Business of Energy Club (MEBC), where he explores the role of renewables in the energy transition. As part of MEBC’s Capstone initiative, he has researched the potential of brine, a byproduct of desalination, for use in the EV and battery industries.

James is especially drawn to the intersection of sustainability and economics. At DevryBV, he is applying his academic knowledge to real-world projects involving artificial intelligence and sustainable aviation fuel.

In his free time, James enjoys surfing, spending time by the ocean, playing soccer with friends, and cooking, with a growing focus on sourcing sustainable ingredients in his home state of California. He hopes to one day turn these passions into a sustainability-focused venture.

EMILY NICHOLSON

2025 Summer Intern

At DevryBV, Emily leads business development in Rochester, NY, to help expand the firm’s Mainstreet Strategy there. She spent a month with the firm in Minnesota and now works from New York. 

Emily is a rising junior at Cornell University studying Environment and Sustainability with a concentration in Sustainable Business and Economics. Through her coursework, she has gained a strong foundation in sustainability and business strategy. 

During her undergraduate experience, she worked with the Cornell Sustainability Consultants on the Sustainable Beverage team as an Associate Consultant, providing pro bono consulting services to local Ithaca beverage companies. She helped secure their last two clients through direct outreach and has developed deliverables on topics such as anaerobic digesters and community solar. Next semester she will serve as project manager for her sub-team, where she looks forward to mentoring new members and leading the team's client interactions and deliverables. 

She also worked as a Research Assistant in the Virginia Moore Lab, assisting with field research that documented plant reactions to cold temperatures. Her responsibilities included planting, data collection, tissue extraction, and post-harvest handling.

Last semester, she joined the Energy Transition Club and completed a comprehensive New Member Education program focused on key topics in the energy transition. She collaborated with a team to produce a final deliverable comparing the cost-effectiveness and implementation of distributed energy resources (DERs) for residential customers in New York State. She looks forward to joining a sub-team on Anaerobic Digestion next semester. 

On campus, she serves as a brand ambassador for Red Jacket Orchards, her family’s fresh fruit juice business in Geneva, NY. She organizes tabling events and performs store visits to increase brand awareness on campus. As a summer intern for the company, she gained experience working with the food safety and leadership team. 

She also interned at Upland Consulting, where she provided services to clients and developed research for internal use. She developed and presented slides on Upland’s methodology to ensure consistency across the firm. She also worked on strategic planning and market research for their clients. 

In addition to her academic and consulting work, Emily is a published writer. Her op-ed, “The Future of Farming is Solar,” was featured in FingerLakes1.com, where she explores the potential for clean energy development in rural New York and the role of agrivoltaics in the energy transition.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys playing soccer, running, working out at the gym, and traveling. She is passionate about climate solutions and hopes to pursue a career in sustainability consulting.

isabell geiger

2024 Summer Intern

Isabell is a rising senior at the University of St. Thomas studying Environmental Studies and Business Administration, specializing in Entrepreneurship. She is a Cohort 4 Schulze Innovation Scholar, participating in a full-tuition scholarship program funded by the founder of Best Buy, Dick Schulze.

During her undergraduate experience, she spent two years as the Director of Sustainability for the Undergraduate Business Council at St. Thomas. Additionally, she has worked on campus as the Lead Creator in the create[space], a maker space fostering student creativity.

In the summer of 2023, Isabell performed market research and identified prospects at NETZRO, a twin cities upcycled food technology startup. She also worked on an independent project with the Luann Dummer Center for Women at St. Thomas, completing interviews and creating a podcast titled “On the Move”, which summarized her academic research.

Outside of educational and work commitments, Isabell loves to swing dance, spend time with friends, and bake. Her passion for food is built on an entrepreneurial spirit ever since she founded a bakery in high school and sold at the local farmer’s market.

adam brodsky

2024 Summer Intern

Adam recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, specializing in Corporate Environmental Management.

Throughout his undergraduate experience, he worked closely with the university’s Institute on the Environment (IonE) as part of the Clean Energy Leaders Program, where he formulated Green Lab practices and certifications. Adam also studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he studied sustainable development in Northern Europe.

Outside the classroom, Adam worked at H.B. Fuller as their Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Sustainability Intern. He also conducted research for the Argonne National Laboratory in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy, tasked with solar pollinator data collection and analysis.

In the Twin Cities metro area, he currently contributes to the National Science Foundation’s Long-Term Ecological Research Project (LTER Network), conducting comprehensive analyses of numerous municipality ordinances.

This fall Adam will be attending Northwestern University to pursue a master’s degree in Energy and Sustainability.

When he is out of the office and classroom, Adam spends his time exploring the Twin Cities’ cultural hotspots, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

2023 Summer Intern

James recently graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Management, specializing in sustainability and social responsibility, and a minor in Political Science.

A former DevryBV Summer Intern ‘23, James has excelled at conducting research, analysis, and content creation for clients in agriculture, energy, and finance.

He is focusing his career at the intersection of business and sustainability strategies for real-world impact.

Growing up working on a family farm which recently won a conservation award for wetland preservation, James is passionate about clean water and is a certified Boat Master in the state of Minnesota.

In his free time, James finds solace in fishing, golfing, skiing, and photography.
